On 25th January 2026, Lodge National Secondary School and Lodge International School were invited to attend a closed-door, invitation-only reception and dinner, Boundless Horizons: A Sarawak Fireside Chat on Aspiration and Impact, at Pullman Kuching. The Head Boy, Ethan Phua Kwan Wern, and Head Girl, Kymberly Tay Thin Gek, were selected to represent Lodge National Secondary School. Representing Lodge International School were A-Level Student Council Head of Operations Leanne Ting and Head of Communications Jeslyn Ting.
The evening started at 6:00 p.m. with drinks, where the four students had the opportunity to connect and socialise with other students representing their respective schools as well as other Oxbridge alumni. The evening continued with dinner, which was graced by the presence of YAB Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Our students had a rare opportunity to participate in dialogue with YAB Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, following the dinner, where he shared about the contributions and importance of Sarawak towards national development. YAB Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof also discussed the importance of the Oxbridge alumni community in helping other Sarawakians study abroad at prestigious universities such as Oxford University and Cambridge University.
The evening concluded with a Q&A session with YAB Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, where participants asked questions about the youth of Sarawak and their importance to nation building, as well as how the government can maintain Oxbridge standards while remaining accessible to local students, among other questions.
Our students left with new connections as well as new insights on the importance of human capital to nation building and how we as Sarawakians can contribute to the development of our beloved state and country.
